  SiDiary6PC 1171 and SiDiary6 PPC 114

SmartSynch now synchs properly between PC 1171 and PPC 114!  Yea!!!

Of course, that is with the proviso that I use the Run as Administrator/Full Control file options work-around from my last post.

Also, the 24hr Log Book with Graphics print template works fine with no VBS addin errors!  Yea! #2.  I would suggest changing the MS Word Language setting for the English RTF templates to English-International.  The spell check function of Word 2007 reports language set to German.

is there a Firewall working on your system which might block SiDiary? The SiDiaryWP.exe (->WorkerProcess) simply checks in the background if it can reach our server which then will be displayed by the main application as the connected globe in the status bar...
Perhaps the WP-task hangs when it tries to look for the internet connection?

Thanks for the clarification of SiDiaryWP.exe.  Yes, there is Norton Internet Security 2007 software firewall running.

(While troubleshooting Vista WindowsUpdate issues post-SP1, I am using the generic OEM bundled firewall/antivirus/antispyware that came preinstalled on the system.)

I can add SiDiary6.exe and SiDiaryWP.exe specifically to the allowed applications list for the firewall. 

It may be useful to specify a firewall rule(s) as well.  What protocols and port(s)s does SiDiaryWP (and other Beta6 components) use? E.g., TCP / UDP / Port no, To / From.

BTW, I checked Program Control in Norton Internet Security 2007.  I had already entered SiDiaryWP.exe in Allowed Applications before I changed the File Security and Full Control flags for Vista UAC.

I also have a Linksys WRT54G version 8 router installed, and a Scientific Atlanta Webstar Cable modem.

  Experience has shown me the Dark Side of Vista, e.g., for some "Vista-compatible"applications an Administrator-equivalent UserID does not give full Administrator rights to numerous files and directories.  Microsoft Technical Support several times has directed me to manually change Account Control for a UserID to Full Control.

For example, my Administrator-equivalent UserID John has only power-user rights in Users and AppData directories.  Some other applications have needed the "John" UserID to have Full Control to the executable.

SiDiaryWP.exe does not seem an exceptional executable, so I am not sure why it needed special handling for UAC on my OS or PC.  .  For the moment I will keep the explicit permissions, pending your recommendations.

With the new buiilds and special permisssions. SmartSynch works quickl and well to and from my HP iPAQ hx2495b WM 5.1 / Windows Mobile  Device Center 6.1 PocketPC PDA.  The Nutrition.dat error is resolved!

It doesn't need a special handling on your UAC!

I've tested it with all OS since Win2k up to Win Server 2008 and Win7. SiDiary has worked on both admin and user accounts with UAC-on and UAC-off.

So it must be a problem with your firewall or some other app.

Í'm not sure what my local issue was, but it seems resolved now.  With files and directories left as default values, Build 1171 works fine, even from a desktop shortcut.

Beta6PC Build 1172 / PPC Build 114

Downloaded and extracted to the working Beta 6 Directory structure.

  SmartSync notice:

"You have used a functionality which is incomplete or not available in Adware model...   reports that I am using the free Adware version and that only data for the current day will be synchronized.

The adware will only import or sync data of today! The following records was not processed this time (the fully registered version of SiDiary does not have this limitation):

  Should I set synch limit to One Day while using 1172 / 114?
